Courses Taught

  • CEEN 241 –  Engineering Mechanics – Statics, Colorado School of Mines, S16, S15, S14, S13, F12
Lecturer for subject matter that includes vector operations, particle equilibrium, equivalent systems, centroids, distributed loading, trusses, frames, machines, shear and bending moment diagrams, cables, friction, hydrostatics, moment of inertia, and Mohr’s circle.
  • CEEN 423 –  Surveying for Engineers and Infrastructure Design, Colorado School of Mines, F15
Lecturer and field instructor for the theory and operation of survey equipment, field data collection, infrastructure design, and computer civil design applications (Civil3D).  Students learn contemporary field construction surveying practices, collect data for design purposes, create a design for an 800 +/- foot roadway, and layout the vertical and horizontal alignment of the roadway in the field.
  • EGGN 350 –  Multidisciplinary Engineering Lab II, Colorado School of Mines, S13, F13, S14, F14, S15, F15, S16
Laboratory instructor and course coordinator for experiments from the fields of mechanics of materials and fluid mechanics. Examples of experiments include springs, Hooke’s law, buckling, manometers, flow measurement, pipe losses and pump efficiencies.
  • CEEN 570 –  Water and Wastewater Treatment, Colorado School of Mines, F13, F14 Lecturer
Subject matter includes discussion and exercises in individual unit operations and processes for environmental engineering.  Concepts include physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes.
  • EGGN 492 –  Senior Design II, Colorado School of Mines, S13, S12, S11, Faculty Advisor.
A project oriented design course in which students undertake challenging design projects from industry.
  • EGGN 351 –  Fluid Mechanics, Colorado School of Mines, F12, Lecturer
Subject matter includes ideal gas law, stress field and viscosity, surface tension, streamlines and pathlines, manometry, hydrostatics, buoyancy, Reynolds Transport Theorem, Bernoulli Equation, differential analysis, Navier-Stokes equation, Buckingham-Pi Theorem, internal flow and head-loss, drag and lift, open channel flow, and pump performance and similarity.
  • EGGN 491 –  Senior Design I, Colorado School of Mines, F12, F11, Faculty Advisor
A project-oriented design course in which students undertake challenging design projects from industry.
  • EGGN 234 –  Civil Field Session, Summer 2014, 13, 12, 11
Surveying for Engineers and AutoCAD / Civil 3D instruction, Lecturer / Instructor. The course is part lecture and part field work; introducing basic survey principals and techniques from field data collection, reduction, computer design generation, and construction field staking.
  • EGGN 320 –  Mechanics of Materials, Colorado School of Mines, Summer 15, S12. F11, Lecturer
Subject matter includes equilibrium of deformable bodies, stress on an inclined plane, simple connections, Hooke’s Law, Poisson’s ratio, axial deformations, statically indeterminate members, torsion, shear and bending moment diagrams, shear stress and transverse loading, thin-walled pressure vessels, combined loading, stress transformations and Mohr’s circle, beam deflections.
