ASCE SEI Graduate Student Chapter (GSC)

The Graduate Student Chapter (GSC) is a student organization with the aim of building a community for graduate students studying structural engineering. We are the first GSC in Colorado and just won the SEI Graduate Student Chapter of the year in 2025!

Join us for a variety of activities including networking, industry seminars, volunteering, and community outreach. A good portion of Civil Engineering undergraduate and graduate students at Mines focus on structural engineering and this is the home for them! Contact Dr. Hongyan Liu (hyliu@mines.edu) for information.

American Water Works Association / Water Environment Federation

The goal of the AWWA/WEF student chapter is to provide an avenue for the exchange of information and ideas through networking and mentoring, as well as foster academic excellence and leadership.

We enable students to explore the water treatment profession, learn sectors where young engineers are needed, understand the direction of technology and applications, apply technical skills to solving real world problems, get involved in local water issues, and network with water professionals. This is accomplished through organized student seminars, technical tours, and volunteer events. Contact Prof. Chris Bellona (cbellona@mines.edu) for information.

Student Committee for Civil and Environmental Engineers

CEE Graduate Student Association (CEE GSA)

As a CEE graduate student, you are automatically a member of the CEE Graduate Student Association (CEE GSA). This is a group composed of graduate students in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department. The primary purpose of CEE GSA is to facilitate and encourage intra-departmental activities, collaboration, and unity between graduate students enrolled in the department’s different degree programs and specialty tracks, as well as students enrolled in Mines’ interdisciplinary programs who are advised by CEE faculty.

To accomplish this, CEE GSA organizes and participates in various activities throughout the year including organizing the departmental winter celebration party, end of the year party, and other events to enhance the Civil and Environmental Engineering community. Members also interact with the Graduate Student Government (GSG) by providing student feedback.
